You are here: Home Our Network Hospital San Jose TEC de Monterrey

Founded in 1969 as a medical institute for health excellence, Hospital San José was integrated to the Monterrey Technological Institute (TEC) in 1978. It has evolved ever since, and is today recognized as one of Latin America’s most prestigious medical institutions. Among many departments, five are worthy of their great reputation for cutting edge developments: cardiology, oncology, neuroscience, organ transplant, and liver disease. Monterrey TEC is the most important private educational and research institution in Mexico with over a hundred thousand students in 33 University and Graduate-level campuses and 39 Colleges across Mexico. The TEC’s Health Project does not only include Hospital San José, but also its well-known medical school, its Biotech Institute, and its Center for Innovation and Knowledge Transfer. Through these, it pursues healthcare excellence, academic and clinical research, innovation, and technology transfer. These capabilities will be further enhanced when the Zambrano Hellion Medical Center is completed in the city of Monterrey with world class facilities and a new home for the Cardiovascular and Oncology Institutes.

Accreditations and Notable Achievements
Hospital San José has been accredited by the Joint Commission International since 2007 for its safe and high-quality patient care. National certifications include the admission to the Secretary of Health’s “Board of General Health”, its Center for Multi Organ Transplants (being the only one in Mexico certified by the Secretary of Health for carrying out every kind of transplant), and the “Distinctive H” certification for exceeding Secretary of Health hygiene norms. Other important mentions are that SIEMENS has recognized it as a center of excellence in Mexico, and the US Consulate in Monterrey has twice selected Hospital San José as the hospital to be used in any emergency involving the President of the U.S. or its entourage while in Monterrey. Hospital San José and the TEC’s medical school have international research and cooperation alliances such as the one for cardiology with the Methodist Hospital DeBakey Heart Center in Houston, Texas. Notable achievements include being the first private hospital in Mexico to perform: laser ocular surgery, kidney, lung, and liver transplants, coronary bypass, and hepatic support treatments. San José was also the first hospital in Mexico to have a coronary angiograph, specialized cath lab rooms, a Da Vinci robot, dual source CAT, high power MRIs, and the SAP information system.

Facilities and Personnel
All hospital rooms are private, include a full bath, wireless internet, and accommodations for visitors and family members. The quality of the hospital’s personnel is maintained at a very high standard by periodic evaluations of certification credentials and performance. Its technology and infrastructure meet the highest international standards; it has eleven intelligent operating rooms designed for the most complex specialties, a fully-equipped emergency room, and a state-of-the-art intensive care unit. Cutting-edge equipment is present in the Ophthalmologic area with its Zeiss microscopes, Excimer and YAG lasers. Other examples of the highly sophisticated equipment found at hospital San Jose are: the advanced Carl Zeiss microscopes used in neurosurgeries and spinal cord surgeries, SIEMENS IMRT-enabled linear accelerators for radiotherapy and radiosurgery, digital cath labs for angiographies and endovascular and hemodynamic therapy, and the latest PET CT, CT, and MRI equipment for image diagnostics.

We count on HSJ Doctors for most specialties. Information on every HSJ specialist can be found in its corresponding specialty section.
